Heard is a small, independently run service. The short version: this site collects the minimum it needs to run feedback boards, shows nothing about you publicly except what you type, and never sells data to anyone.
What we collect, and from whom
- Board owners (people who sign in): your email address, used for the magic-link sign-in and for notifying you about feedback on your boards.
- Feedback submitters and voters (visitors to a board or widget): the feedback text you write, an email address only if you choose to leave one, and a random voter ID stored in your browser (localStorage plus a cookie) so votes can be counted once per person. No account, no name, no profile.
- Everyone: privacy-friendly, first-party analytics (page views, referrers, and a visitor-id cookie) so we know which pages get used. No cross-site tracking, no ad tech.
How it gets used
- Displaying posts and vote counts on public boards.
- Emailing a board's owner when new feedback lands on it.
- Emailing you updates about your own feedback (status changes, a reply from the maker), only if you left your email with it.
- Keeping spam and abuse off boards.
That's the whole list. No selling, no sharing with advertisers, no profiling.
What's public
Feedback you post appears on a public board (title, details, category, status, vote count). Your email address is never shown publicly; only the owner of the board you posted to can see it, so they can respond.
Where it lives
Hosting runs on Vercel, the database on Neon (Postgres), and email goes through Resend. Each processes data on our behalf under their own data-processing terms.
Retention and deletion
Posts and votes stay until the board owner hides or deletes them, or the board is deleted. Board owners can delete their boards (and everything on them) from the admin at any time. If you want your feedback or email removed from any board, use the contact at the bottom of this page and it will be done.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data exists about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. One message via the contact below covers all three.
Changes
